Max Baur, a native of Günzburg (Germany) born in 1898, was a self-taught photographer. He opened his first photo studio in 1928 and began his career In photography with landscapes and views of local scenes.
He was admitted to the Society of German Photographers in 1934. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Potsdam, where his creative talents came to full bloom. In 1953 Max Baur fled Potsdam (East Germany) – with his complete photo archives and settled in Aschau, Bavaria, where he continued to work until his death in 1988.
